Centennial is the result of a 1970s breeding program. It originates from Brewer's Gold, with genetic traits from Fuggle, Golding, and others. Very popular with US craft breweries, it is often referred to as Super Cascade.
It turns out to be very balanced, with floral, citric, resinous notes. Average early ripening.
